Great schools need great libraries where students can become independent learners, creative thinkers and resourceful researchers. The Marlborough School Library is one of the finest school libraries in the Los Angeles area; however, it takes time and resources to keep it that way. Marlborough School families have traditionally supported the Library through the Volunteer Program and by underwriting the cost of a variety of resources for the Library during the Annual Book Fair which begins August 15 and ends at the Parents' Night of Classes. These acrtivities make a tramendous difference to our daughters' learning and education as a whole.

During the 2008/2009, we are extending the scope of our collections to include, in addition to books, other media such as sound recordings, oral traditions, folkore, and film titles; all these are typically produced as CDs and DVDs. As we evolve, we might integrate other innovative forms and media to our existing rich collections.

There are resources on a wide range of subjects from fiction to travel, from the sciences and mathematics to cooking and the arts. You may make your selection by mail, by stopping in at the Books and Media Fair Store on Parents' Night of Classes, or by visiting the Library after August 15 when all the titles on the list will be available to browse through in advance.

Please take time to look through the list and support the Library's collection development program by selecting as many resources as you wish and contributing their cost to the Library Fund. If you make your selection by mail, simply fill out the form on the reverse side of this letter and return it with your check made out to the "Marlborough School Library." All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. If you prefer to have the librarians select the titles, they will be pleased to select resources to match your contribution amount. Each resource you choose will have a bookplate which may either bear the donor's name or a dedication to honor someone special, like a daughter, grandparent, teacher, or friend.
